Protect your A90 Supra’s “nervous system” from spills!
The A90 Supra is host to numerous automotive communication systems to provide data to/from its various modules. CAN, LIN, Flexray, etc all make up the “nervous system” of the vehicle and are vital to its operation. Unfortunately, one of the Powertrain CANbus termination points (think, a branching point) lies directly under the cupholders. This termination point, and the cupholders themselves are not entirely waterproof or water resistant, thus a large enough spill may lead to many electrical gremlins if fluids manage to make their way into the connector. This was precisely the issue a friend of mine encountered recently, which led to various issues including the keyless entry system to fail.
Luckily, further protecting this sensitive connector is extremely easy and can be done in less than 10 minutes! Simply print the spill guard, remove 2 screws, pop the cupholder out, place the guard over the PTCAN2 termination point, and reinstall the cupholders!
